Reporter Live: BMC Makes Hoarding Permission Mandatory After Fatal Accident in Bhubaneswar

After a tragic incident where two people lost their lives due to a falling hoarding, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has introduced strict new rules for installing hoardings within city limits. From now on, anyone wishing to put up a hoarding within the Bhubaneswar municipal area must obtain prior permission from BMC. Authorities have made it mandatory to submit: Structural Safety Certificate Third-Party Insurance Agency Signature on Every Hoarding Without these approvals, hoardings will be removed immediately. BMC has also clarified that private individuals cannot install hoardings on residential buildings for personal or event-related purposes. An enforcement drive has already begun to remove unauthorized hoardings across the city. Currently, only three agencies have been officially approved at government rates to install hoardings. Tender processes for additional agencies will open after the 6th of this month. The BMC Commissioner stated that all agencies must submit safety reports within two to three weeks to prevent any future mishaps and ensure public safety.
