When delays between appointments leave people vulnerable to relapse, CareLoop Health uses smartphones to help clinicians spot warning signs and act sooner. For co-founder Professor Sandra Bucci, interdisciplinarity isn’t optional: “CareLoop is built on interdisciplinarity,” she explains, “It's not something that's a nice to have, it's essential.” Over the years, the team has brought together patients, statisticians, clinicians and designers to shape and test the platform and develop funding bids. Integrating such varied expertise is not easy, but having a shared goal keeps everyone aligned and on track. Part of Research impact, shaped together, this story highlights how research can be strengthened by a wide range of knowledge and expertise, from patient perspectives to highly specialist clinical trial design. Evidence now shows that using CareLoop reduces relapse frequency and severity, demonstrating what can happen when diverse teams work together towards a common purpose. This film is part of Research impact, shaped together – a collection exploring how impact emerges through collaboration, shared purpose and trust.
