Marcus Haber on Thai Football Challenge post Svay Rieng Success | นักเตะต่างชาติในไทยลีก, ฟุตบอลไทย

"I feel good at 36, really good, and I don’t plan on stopping playing anytime soon," says Marcus Haber. The Canadian striker joined Nongbua Pitchaya FC on loan from Chonburi FC at the start of the season after three successful years in the Cambodian Premier League. Stepping up to Thai League 1 was a challenge he welcomed. "It’s been a fight, it’s been a grind, there are no easy games in this league. I wanted to challenge myself and play at the highest level possible that I’m able to." Having played in England, Scotland, and Canada, Haber has experienced a range of football styles and cultures, but Thai football presents a unique challenge. "It’s incomparable to European football [and games are] hectic, for sure. Anything can happen at any time. Especially second halves of games when there’s space, it can be very end-to-end and very exciting to watch." Adjusting to the demands of Southeast Asian football required him to rethink his approach to fitness. "In the heat, I figured I was going to have to get fitter, and a bit leaner […] and I got myself in the best shape I’ve ever been – and I’ve maintained that."
