I’ve always struggled to grow onions, when I planted sets straight into the ground they always died/went mushy. Last year I tried starting them off in modules to develop roots and shoots first, then planted out and it worked really well! I’ve tried to grow from seed and not had much luck sadly. The main reasons I grow in modules first: 🌱Give them a head start if you haven’t decided where to plant them yet (or the area isn’t ready) 🌱Planting them out with green shoots means feathery friends are less likely to pluck them out I tried an experiment last year and personally the onions started off in modules did much better then the ones planted straight in the ground (this may not be the case for everyone though) If you have any questions, let me know in the comments and I’ll do my best to help! ________________________ Welcome to Diary of a Yorkshire Gardener, I’m Francesca and I would love for you to follow my gardening journey by SUBSCRIBING to my channel! 🥰 You can also find me on Instagram: / diaryofayorkshiregardenerg Happy Growing! ________________________ #onionsets #growingonions #homegrownonions #senshyuonion #radaronion #redonion #yellow onion #onionplanting #wintergrowing #allotmenteer #homegrown #growfood #vegpatch #vegplot
