Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are an accepted method of linking childhood trauma with adult outcomes and resiliency as they examine forms of maltreatment and dysfunctional household environments. It is believed that such factors may compound to generate long-term maladaptive effects on a child’s development, with greater risk for ethnic minority youth from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Consequently, early identification is an essential component in the prevention and treatment of such experiences. This webinar will review ACEs, prevalence rates, outcomes, and prevention strategies in working with children and adolescents.
