Web: www.heritagerd.com Heritage Restoration and Design Studio has has just completed an 18-month long restoration of William Reddick Mansion in Ottawa Illinois. This historic, Italianate structure is among the largest homes built in the state prior to the Civil War. 162 years of exposure to weather has weakened the wood along the mansion’s balconies and ninety-four vintage windows. Toxic lead-based paint was found flaking off the cornices, doorways, balconies, and window frames. Specialized preservation skills were required to restore the entire mansion’s woodwork without compromising its historic value. Over the course of a year and a half, Heritage’s staff repainted the cornices, restored every window frame, replaced broken glass with vintage replicas, and resolifieid the rotting balconies.
