The spouses had been married for 22 years before separating in 2022. Alvina previously filed for divorce in 2015, citing irreconcilable differences. In court documents obtained by PEOPLE at the time, she requested spousal support and listed their date of separation as April 1, 2014. She filed to dismiss the divorce petition in January 2017, having reconciled their marriage, according to E! News at the time. Alvina filed for divorce a second time on March 25, 2022, citing the date of their separation as "TBD." In the filing, she requested spousal support and for Anderson to pay her attorney's fees. Anderson responded to Alvina's request for divorce shortly after, listing their date of separation as Feb. 25, 2022, citing irreconcilable differences. The documents obtained by PEOPLE at the time stated that the Barbershop alum requested that spousal support be reserved for "future determination." However, he requested both parties cover the costs of their respective attorney's fees. They share two children, daughter Kyra, 27, and son Nathan, 22.
