My written review: From the bulk sample I received. Oak & Ember is a typical ribbon cut mixture with a few courser pieces thrown in for good measure. It slightly on the dry side and ready for smoking. The tin aroma is earthy and nutty Dark Burley with some cocoa. Upon lighting you are greeted with the Dark Burley. As in the aroma, it is earthy, nutty, has a bit of spice, and a touch of cocoa. It is stout and strong. The Red Virginia offers some tartness and a touch of sweetness, but mostly works to smooth out some of the roughness from the Burley. If you like your Burleys stout and strong, this one is for you. Fans of 5 Brothers, Haunted Bookshop, and Old Joe Krantz will enjoy this. It’s easy to pack and light, and requires few relight. Smokes cool, consistently, and smooth as long as you don’t push it. Has a rough edge that is desirable for fans of this genre.
