Armed police lock down London high street in knife stand-off

Armed police have descended on a busy main road in southeast London after a man was seen waving a large knife from a third-storey window. READ MORE: https://www.thetimes.com/article/66b9... The emergency services were called to Lewisham High Street shortly before 11am on Monday morning. The surrounding area has since been closed off, the Metropolitan Police said. Officers are still working to ascertain if anyone else is in the property with the man. Pictures and videos from the scene show a shirtless man leaning out of the top window of a building opposite a branch of HSBC bank waving a knife and shouting at officers below. Officers in riot gear and guns were pictured gathering at the bank, which sits on the corner of the high street, part of the A20, and Lewis Grove.
