COE Ortona Lock South Campground, Moore Haven, Florida - Camping & Campgrounds The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Ortona South is a perfect campground for a quiet, sunny escape to inland South Florida. The campground is set along the Caloosahatchee River portion of the Okeechobee Waterway. 🚩 Subscribe:    / nowdatsrving   Campers will enjoy watching the boats and manatees pass through the Ortona Lock. Alligators, osprey and otters are also frequently spotted in this area. Ortona South is in the Okeechobee Waterway, due west of Lake Okeechobee. There are three accessible sites: Site 12, 25, 47. Pull-though sites: 40, 41 and 42, 43 The Campsite fees are $30 per day. Camping is limited to 14 days within a 30 day period. Campsites can be reserved up to 180 days in advance but no earlier than 3 days in advance. For reservations call toll free at 1-877-444-6777 or visit the reservation web site at www.recreation.gov. Ortona South Located on the Caloosahatchee River section of the Okeechobee Waterway, Ortona South Campground provides visitors with a taste of tranquil, serene country life. The tropical atmosphere provides an excellent location for friends and family to camp, fish, walk, ride bicycles or enjoy hours of quiet contemplation. While enjoying nature's beauty, visitors can watch boats and manatees going through Ortona Lock as they travel the Okeechobee Waterway. Alligators, ospreys, and otters are frequently seen in this area. The campground is open year round. Attendants are on duty and the campground telephone number is 863-675-8400. The nearby town of LaBelle offers grocery stores and restaurants. The nearest hospital is East Pointe Hospital in Lehigh Acres. Ortona South Campground and St. Lucie South Campgrounds are part of the same water resource project and fall under the same 14 day in any 30 consecutive day period regulation. Campers cannot stay at Ortona South for fourteen days and then camp St. Lucie South for 14 days without camping elsewhere for 16 days. Campers also cannot use different names to get around this regulation. Campground Amenities  Fishing piers  RV sites with electric & water hookups  Trailer dump station  Showers & restrooms Additional Information  Park Hours — The Ortona South Campground entrance gate is open 7 a.m. to sunset. Day use hours end at sunset. All campground visitors are required to leave at 10 p.m. Quiet hours are observed 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. The Ortona North Day Use Area is open from 8 a.m. to sunset.  Camping — Camping is permitted in designated areas only. Check-out time is 11 a.m. and check-in begins at 12 noon. Campsite fees are $30 per day. Camping is limited to 14 days within a 30 day period.  Pets — Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. Pets must be penned or kept on a 6’ leash at all times.  Campfires — Fires are permitted in grills and fire rings only. Please extinguish all unattended fires.  Litter — Campers are expected to keep their site free of litter at all times. Dumpsters are located throughout the campground for your convenience.  Parking — Vehicles must be parked on camp pads or in designated areas.  Trailer Dump Station — A dump station is provided for the disposal of waste water or similar material. Dumping "gray water" onto the ground is prohibited.
