10 Skin Care Myths

With so much inaccurate information available online, I wanted to discuss some common skin myths. With so many beauty industries trying to sell skincare products and treatments that don't actually work, it is becoming and increasingly common problem. There is no regulation on the internet regarding what people can say, what they can sell and false claims they can make. Non-dermalogists are now practicing dermatology and beauty editors are making recommendations without any checks and balances. Unlike the FDA and the CDC which regulate pharmaceutcals and medical devices, drugstore brands can be sold without and regulation to prove the efficacy of a skincare product or at home device. A beauty blogger can make any claim and its up to viewers to decide how reputable the source is. Its my job to make my channel a safe haven for truth in this industry which comes from several years of education and training (10+ years of postgraduate education to be exact). Upon completing my residency, I joined the full-time faculty at UCLA as a Clinical Instructor and Professor in Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. I then went on to complete advanced fellowship training in Dermatologic Surgery at UC Davis and Cosmetic Dermatology at the Laser and Skin Surgery Center of Northern California with world-renowned expert, Dr. Suzanne Kilmer. After fellowship, I was appointed the Director of Dermatologic Surgery at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of Northern California where I remained active in clinical trials and have been on the forefront of the latest advances in aesthetics and dermatology. As an Orange County native, I love the SoCal community and currently enjoy being a Dermatologist in Newport Beach, CA. My areas of expertise include cosmetic dermatology with a focus on injectable neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin), as well as dermal fillers (Juvederm, Voluma, Volbella, Vollure, Sculptra, Restylane, Belotero, and Radiesse). In addition, I travel nationally and internationally where I teach other physicians injection techniques and about the latest advances in dermatology. I am highly-trained in the use of lasers and energy-based devices to treat all aspects of photoaging, including fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity, brown spots and facial vessels. I offer a comprehensive approach to body contouring with the use of minimally-invasive procedures.
