The performance titled "tamiX in the Blind G" deliberately utilizes the G minor key (G for Genelec). All sounds generated from the Buchla 200e modular synthesizer system. It's noteworthy that the entire performance is remotely controlled using controllers, including the Buchla 223e Multi-Dimensional Kinesthetic touchpad and two Koma Elektronik Kommander infrared sensors. The meticulously designed tactile touchpad and infrared controllers allow the manipulation of the Buchla modular synthesizer's nine voices based on gestures, influencing both the sound and algorithmic changes in the Eventide H90 effects processor. The modular synthesizer's realm is indeed magical, enabling the realization of imaginative ideas and playing styles through 100+ carefully connected patching cables, taking over an hour to set up. Despite being unable to see any components of the synthesizer, my interaction is more about precisely reproducing the synthesizer's sounds through Genelec speakers and guiding my hands to create various enchanting sounds, ultimately forming a G minor musical composition. I always believe that an instrument conveying emotions and thoughts through sound must be playable with closed eyes, relying solely on auditory feedback. This defines a true instrument. While acoustic instruments undoubtedly meet this criterion, can electronic instruments achieve the same? For electronic instruments, reaching this pinnacle is challenging, but I have been exploring and pursuing it.
