This is my own GoPro footage from Dec 8, 2025 a spectacular day on Bora Bora’s lagoon — three stops, three distinct ecosystems, all within one protected stretch of water. Stop 1: Black-tip reef sharksWe snorkeled between two boats as more than a dozen black-tip reef sharks circulated through the lagoon. Black-tips are among the most commonly seen sharks in Bora Bora, favoring shallow, clear water near passes and sandy bottoms. Seeing so many at once was extraordinary — smooth, steady movement with no sudden behavior. Stop 2: StingraysIn calm, shallow water, stingrays moved slowly through the sand, passing close by as we stood still. Stingrays are frequent residents of Bora Bora’s lagoon, where sandy channels give them space to feed and rest. One lighthearted moment came when Mana joked, “When I’m here, my name is Romeo — and this is Juliet,” giving the experience a joyful, human touch. Stop 3: Coral GardenThe final stop revealed a vibrant coral garden in clear water — clams with brilliant, almost neon-colored lips, tropical fish weaving through coral formations, and incredible visibility. These gardens thrive thanks to the barrier reef, which protects the lagoon from strong ocean swells.
