US lawmaker demands PM Abe's clear apology over Japan's past / YTN

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will have to make a clear apology for his country's sexual enslavement of women during World War Two in an expected address before the U.S. Congress. Rep. Mike Honda (D-CA) told reporters on Wednesday that he hopes that Abe would acknowledge the systematic kidnapping of girls and women during the war that Japan is responsible for. The ethnic Japanese congressman also demanded that Abe accept Japan's historical responsibility and make an unequivocal apology on behalf of the government. Abe has sought a congressional invitation to become the first Japanese leader to address a joint meeting of Congress when he visits Washington next month.
