A wargames recreation of the battle of Plattsburgh, also sometimes known as the battle of Lake Champlain, fought on September 11th, 1814 between a British squadron under Commodore George Downie and an American squadron commanded by Commodore Thomas Macdonough. The real battle was a major action of the Anglo-American war of 1812, and a smashing US victory. It's a good one to recreate, as it is a very large battle, it was a very decisive one, and the two sides are very evenly matched, giving both of our players a good chance of victory! Players: US Navy - Martin Bourne. Royal Navy - James "Badger" Wilson. If you want a documentary description of the real battle, which will help you put the battle in perspective, find it here: • The battle of Plattsburgh - the battle tha... The models - the smaller rowing galleys are by Langton miniatures, who also provided most of the crew figures. The larger rowing galleys are field conversions of Langton miniatures (basically sticking two of them together). The larger ships are all scratch-built out of bristol board, paper, ink, florists wire, pvc glue, superglue, paint, balsa wood and cocktail sticks. They are based on some excellent patterns from Jeffrey Knusden of the War Artizans workshop. You can find them at http://warartisan.com/ Thanks to Pixabay for sound effects.
