The penultimate film by Luchino Visconti. Its subject is Ludwig II of Bavaria, the so-called 'Mad King.' The film is an immense, four-hour-long exploration of the King's life and slow descent into madness. Helmut Berger stars as Ludwig II, alongside Romy Schneider as Empress Sisi of Austria and John Moulder-Brown as Prince Otto von Bayern. The film had to be significantly cut before its premiere in 1973, and was still deemed controversial and superfluous by contemporary critics. Today, it has sadly been largely forgotten. This video was made by me, for fun. As with all of my videos, it is for entertainment purposes only, and if it is offensive to anymore, then I sincerely apologize.
