Do you often forget to turn off your multimeter or avo meter? If you’re like me, you’ve probably experienced the frustration of grabbing your meter only to find the battery completely dead right when you need it. In this video, I’ll show you a simple and practical solution to this problem. We will convert a regular multimeter power system into a rechargeable one using a lithium-ion battery and a DC boost converter that increases the voltage from 5V to 9V. For charging, we will use a TP4056 charging module, which allows the lithium battery to be safely recharged multiple times. The battery used in this project was salvaged from an old electronic cigarette device, giving new life to otherwise unused electronics. Lithium-ion batteries can typically handle up to around 2000 charge cycles when used properly, making this modification both economical and environmentally friendly. ⚠️ Important Safety Note: Do not use lithium batteries that have dropped below about 2–2.5 volts. Such batteries may be damaged or unsafe to recharge. In the video, I’ll walk you through the entire build process step by step so you can easily recreate it yourself.
