Rusutsu couldn’t have delivered better conditions. Fresh snow, sunlight and endless tree runs made for one of my favourite resort days of the season. 🔗 20% OFF Outdoor Master (Limited Time - Ends 30/04/26) ⭐️Get Yours Here: https://outdoormaster.com/discount/Bl... ➡️Code: Blaize20 My first time skiing Rusutsu Ski Resort in over two years, and my first video ever filmed here. After a big ski touring day prior, we opted for a lower-risk resort day and woke up to fresh powder and patches of sunshine. We spent most of the day skiing the East side of the resort, lapping the famous tree runs on East Mountain and Mt. Isola. Rusutsu’s layout, long groomers, tight glades and shorter lift lines make it one of my favourite resorts in Hokkaido, even if it lacks the alpine access of Niseko. To finish the day, we ventured outside the resort boundary on West Mountain for a short hike and a backcountry run which easily the best line of the day. This terrain is unpatrolled and avalanche prone, so we carried full safety equipment and experience. An all-time day and a reminder that Rusutsu deserves way more attention. I’ll definitely be back again this season. ❤️Subscribe for future videos: / @blaizekelly 🚗Need to hire a car in Niseko? https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?... --------- ❄️ Rusutsu is one of Hokkaido’s most underrated ski resorts, known for its perfectly spaced tree runs, long cruisy groomers, and noticeably quieter lift lines compared to Niseko. Spread across East Mountain, Mt. Isola and West Mountain, the resort offers incredible terrain variety and some of the best inbound tree skiing in Japan. While it lacks true alpine access, Rusutsu more than makes up for it with consistent powder, playful terrain, and a relaxed, uncrowded vibe that makes it a favourite for locals and those in the know. 📍 Rusutsu Ski Resort, Hokkaido, Japan --------- 0:00 Welcome to Rusutsu Ski Resort 2:44 Pow days are kinda busy... 4:12 What an amazing warm up lap 6:52 Pow runs under the chair 9:32 Sugar Bowl is so sweet! 12:12 More tree runs 20:35 The sun is back! 23:16 Why didn't I do this earlier? 25:17 Last run on East Mountain 27:24 Over to West Mountain 29:03 Leaving the resort boundary 30:57 Saving the best run for last (backcountry run) 34:00 I wish I came back to Rusutsu sooner! --------- ⚠️ Backcountry Disclaimer: Portions of this video take place outside resort boundaries in unpatrolled avalanche terrain. We always carry avalanche safety equipment (beacon, shovel, probe) and have prior backcountry training and experience.
