Continuing my exploration of the Rivelin Valley Trail during the Summer of 2025. Episode 3 covers the far Western end of the Trail, the site of the Second Coppice Wheel, as we relish the long Summer journey downstream to the East at Malin Bridge. Each episode will be mostly about one specific Wheel site, although there will be some overlapping as several of the sites are very close to each other, and features of the river water management infrastructure will be relevant to more than one site. I chose to film in the Summer as the Valley is at it's best in terms of flora and fauna. However, in the winter you can see MORE of the period original industrial remains, once the vegetation dies back until the Spring. It is more monochrome experience in the winter, and while still beautiful, I wanted to capture Summer in the Valley as it is today. (Any corrections to details will be in CLOSED CAPTIONS within the content) To discover full details about the Heritage Trail, make sure you get yourself a copy of the excellent book, Walking the Rivelin, as published by the Rivelin Valley Conservation Group. The link below is where you can get the latest edition, it is an essential guide and has all the key history and dates of the industry that was once in the Valley. It also has some maps and very detailed descriptions of exploring the route, and today I saw someone holding one while I was filming at Nether Cut Wheel. I recommend the LATEST edition as that has some new material in, earlier versions are available 2nd hand but not as plentiful in content. Plus if you buy a new copy, you will be helping the Conservation of the Valley and the Nature Trail. https://rivelinvalley.org.uk/shop-php/ The RVCG also has a good summary of the history of each site on their website, but the book is an essential tool. https://rivelinvalley.org.uk/ Thanks to the RVCG, and also picturesheffield.com for use of their archive images. • Rivelin Valley Trail Summer Journal Episod... #rivelin valley #waterwheels #sheffield nature trail #journal #river #naturalbeauty #heritage
