Joshua Casper here with Plugin Boutique and I’m pumped. It’s that time of year when we can expect to see big moves in new and improved plugins. And, in todays video, as the title suggests, we have iZotope coming out swinging with Ozone 9! In this video I’m going to walk you through the highlights of what you can expect in the newest version of the industry’s standard mastering suite. It’s all coming up, so let’s get into it! To start, this is not meant to be a tutorial, those will be coming soon. Also, if you want the full list of new and improved features click the link in the video description. Ok. Now that that’s out of the way. Let’s jump in. First up, the Standard Edition. Right off, Ozone 9 is now faster and easier to use… and, wait for it, resizable! Start-up times have been reduced and so has CPU drain which means you can easily have more modules in your project at once without worrying about it. The Master Assistant, which is of course the AI assisted machine learning algorithm that listens to your music and gives you a custom preset, has been massively upgraded. It also now has a vintage target option as well as the modern. The Master Assistant will make adjustments to the Modern or Vintage Compressors, EQs, Limiters and more to help make your track ready for release. There is also the all new Match EQ module. This used to be a part of the EQ module, but now it has its own home. Here you can analyze a target master’s EQ curves and easily apply them to your master as much or as little as you would like. This module uses 8,000 frequency bands to get an incredibly accurate picture of any track you feed into it. Also, Ozone 9 Standard now comes with the lovely Vintage modules both as modules in the mothership and standalone component VSTs. Ozone Advanced has two new and incredible modules on top of everything new and improved in the Standard Version. There is Master Rebalance, which allows you to adjust the levels of Vocals, Drums and/or Bass in a mixdown without needing access to stems. We saw something similar to this in RX7 and I’m pumped to see it here in Ozone 9 as well. Next, we have Low End Focus. This is a module designed to help you sculpt the low end frequencies of your mix. As sub and bass are where most mix and master mistakes dwell, having a dedicated Ozone module to fix those issues is a big jump in the right direction. Tonal Balance Control has been updated with better performance, smoother metering and more ways to communicate with iZotope plugins as well as more preset targets. It should also be noted that Ozone 9 Advanced, Standard and Elements has an updated Imager module with the new Stereoize 2 which adds more natural and transparent width to your audio.
