Hip flexor tendonitis or tendinitis is a condition that can affect any of your hip flexors including the iliopsoas tendon, proximal rectus femoris tendon, tensor fascia latae tendon, or sartorius tendon. While tendonitis or tendinopathy can occur in any of aforementioned tendons, it is often affecting the iliopsoas tendon as the iliacus and psoas major muscles are the primary movers. Tendonitis is referred to as a mechanical overuse condition which can occur in individuals that have engaged in more physical activity or a different type of exercise than they are usually used to. In essence, tendonitis occurs when there is a negative discrepancy between your exercise volume and your tendon capacity. In today's video we show exercise examples that beginners can do to improve hip flexor symptoms. While these exercises are helpful to improving the iliopsoas tendon's capacity to handle workloads, it will be important to engage in relative rest. Relative rest refers to minimizing aggravating activities while not resting completely. At Rehab Hero we take a full body approach to recovery.
