Recorded Live [Zoom] from Rejoice Convention 2020 - Day 1 For Prayer requests, or to attend one of our [[ Live Zoom ]] services, please WhatsApp the number on our website: http://www.rejoice-ministry.com/conta... Thank you for listening, God bless you! --~~~----~~~--- Sermon notes: 1 Jn 3:3 Every man that has hope in Him, purifies himself even as He is pure. During this corona crisis let us use the time to ready for the Lord’s coming. See the positives, not the negatives. This letter John writes is like an old grandfather writing to his kids far away. “Children..”, “fathers..”, “young ones..” His desire is that we children must become like Jesus. Even the apostle Paul after nearly 50 years of ministry he says “I have not yet attained, but I push on..” This is the Christian’s ultimate aim. Just as Christ is pure – so must we be. There are some examples of Jesus we have to follow, ‘like’ Him: Jn 15:10 Like I obeyed my Father, obey me. Obedience is critical Jn 13:15 Like I have done to you, do. Jn 15:12 Like I loved you, love one another Col 3:13 Like I forgave you, forgive each other Rev 3:21 Like I overcame... Only then we have the privilege of reigning with Him. To resist the wiles of the devil, of the flesh, of the world. Jn 17:23 Like the Son, Father and Spirit are one, so must the church be, be perfectly united as one. The epistles are all about – “Theological explanation about Christ and the church” IT explains the requirements of the church, of which purity is one. ‘Pure’ - No deception, nothing to hide, transparent. Greek ”Hagia” Hebrew, “Tamim”, Arabic “Tamam” – full, complete. This word is used to describe the spotless lamb of sacrifice by the priest after he examines it. Jesus the lamb of God examined rigorously by the Pharisees, Romans, scourged. Yet no blemish, the fault was found in Him. The only spotless one, worthy to be sacrificed. In this context read the key verse – Be pure as Jesus is pure... 5 areas we need to keep purity: Our Body. 1 Tim 5:22 Do not partake of another man’s sins. DO not give your body over as instruments of unrighteousness. Because this body is God’s holy temple. Rom 12:1 It is a living sacrifice. Luke 11:36, Whole body must be full of light, not a hint of darkness James 1:27 Pure religion. Not like a hypocrite. Behind closed doors, it must exist. Jer 32:40. Not for others to know, there. Be pure in your teaching. Titus 2:8. Pure worship. 2 Tim 1:4. Our God comes into our midst when we worship Him, but we must worship with a pure conscience. Purity in marriage. Heb 4:13. “Till death do us part”. Together not until the court permits divorce, but until death. That is true purity to one another. 2 cor 11:2 Christ is coming to take a ‘pure’ chaste church
