Southern Missouri's Hercules Glades Wilderness features a variety of geologic and biologic attractions. Waterfalls develop along bedrock joint patterns. Vegetation patterns, including high open glades, are influenced by bedrock type. Unusual tufa formations develop in cooperation with mosses. And molds of fossil stromatolite mounds create distinctive "footprints" in the bedrock. This area is featured in the classic book, Geologic Wonders & Curiosities of Missouri, but prior to this filming visit we'd never managed to explore the area before. So come along as we showcase these interesting features and more on Ozark Outsider. 00:00 Introduction 00:58 Setting 02:12 Long Creek valley: waterfalls & more 05:50 High glade knobs 08:22 The "Elephant Walk" 09:29 Mosstone Falls 10:49 Old stone walls 11:17 Birds & bedrock Like this video?
