The Ross University Veterinary Clinic is an American Animal Hospital Association-accredited* clinic on campus that offers students a chance to practice their clinical skills in a real-life setting. Our clinic provides a wide range of medical and surgical services for locally owned small animals. The services offered here include preventative care, dental care, and 24-hour emergency care. Shown here—a DVM clinical instructor is overseeing a physical examination by Ross Vet students during their small animal rotation—part of clinical rotations here on campus. The RUVC’s dental suite is where all dental procedures take place, including full dental radiography, prophylactic treatment, and extractions. As a 7th semester student, you may complete a dental rotation here in this suite. In our special procedures room, staff performs in-house laboratory work, as well as procedures such as endoscopy and blood donations as part of the clinic’s standard operations. This Small Animal Surgical Suite is primarily used for live animal surgery labs. Seventh-semester students gain hands-on experience spaying and neutering cats and dogs in this facility. Patients treated here are largely from the surrounding community in St. Kitts as part of the Clinic’s community outreach activities and education program. This service is offered to all pet owners on the island at no cost to them and includes a pre-surgical physical examination, routine blood work, and pain management, as well as anesthesia and the surgical procedure with one night of hospitalization after the surgery. These surgeries encompass part of the training for our students and are carried out under the direct supervision of surgeons. The Ross Anesthesia Annex is where you will complete practical labs and train in the field of anesthesia. It also provides a secondary function as an anesthesia and prep area for small animal live surgery labs. *Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine's (RUSVM) Veterinary Clinic is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA, www.aaha.org).
