Have you thought about creating a willow bonsai? Or have you tried and struggled to create a willow bonsai? The willow in this video is one of my oldest bonsai, developed for more than four decades from what began as little more than a twig. During that time, I’ve experimented with many methods to perfect the weeping style, and the most successful techniques (using cut-and-grow, plasticine and a careful eye) are demonstrated in this video. Some viewers may have seen this willow at events in Britain and on the Continent, including Noelanders (now called The Trophy), where it received a nomination from judges such as Bill Valavanis, Ryan Neal and Mauro Stemberger. There’s no doubt that it’s a better tree today than it was then, with increased mature bark giving it a more uniform aged appearance. However, it’s by no means finished (what tree ever is?), and the aspects I’m not happy with will be addressed unflinchingly in my next video. If you have enjoyed the content of this video, do like, comment and subscribe. I have more videos lined up, many of them dealing with trees that I’ve had since the 1980s, so your interaction will certainly help the channel to grow.
