UP 3985 and Executive E units Sept 1995

In the late 1980's and 1990's the Union Pacific ran several mega public passenger excursions. I was only able to attend one of these multi-day extravaganzas. Sept 15th The City of Portland Special departed Denver CO behind the Executive E's with the Challenger No. 3985 joining the train at Speer WY. From there it was several days of steam powered luxury in the 1st class section of the 19 car train. Note the 2 Chicago & Northwestern cars. UP had just merged with the C&NW so the full dome and track inspection car were still in C&NW paint. I had to leave the train at Boise ID, but it was worth every minute I could spend on that wonderful trip.
