This line is widely regarded as the first 8a of Austria, first ascented back in 1984 by Thomas Hrovat (at a time when world wide route max grade was around 8b). A truly historic line deserving all the glory, climbing up a stunning, slightly overhanging face in the famous Arena sector, surrounded by the wild setting of the Bärenschützklamm, near Mixnitz, in Styria. Containing some epic moves and sequences (pretty greasy already due to many fine warriors climbing on this thing :) I had the honour to redpoint it in 2018 during a tough one day ascent battle. Back then, the whole area of the Grazer Bergland was still very new to me. Fate had me return for another dance this season, during the great comeback. I wanted to check my progress on a beautiful and proper 8a, I wanted to get a nice record of it, and it worked out, so I had to go for a victory jump. The line features some nice technical stepping and strategy in general, so I will post a more in depth analysis as a patreon exclusive in the near future. Thanks for watching and reading, stay strong, I'll see you soon!
