/ @plantobsessed This is an experiment to see if 3 different species of worms will thrive, maintain or struggle when living in their own casting. African Night Crawlers. European Night Crawlers and Red Wigglers are used. 3 shoe box sized bins (6.7 L) are filled 3/4 full with 1/12 inch screen sifted re moistened castings. ENC and RW trial will use castings from a ENC/ RW bin, the ANC trial will use ANC castings also harvested and screened earlier this month. Due to the small screen size it is unlikely to be any cocoons or intact food items present. 2 adults of each species were selected, rinsed and weighed. These were then placed in their respective bins. Lids were used to contain moisture to promote microbial growth to facilitate re processing of the castings. No additions of food items, bedding, grit, or pH stabilizer will be added for the term of the trial. The bins will be maintained in a 65-70 degree F room.
