Goodbye To Sparky and The Wonderful Stacks Second Hand Bookshop Comber Road Dundonald

-Today I heard that Sparky who runs the wonderful Stacks Bookshop on the Comber road Dundonald is retiring at the end of this month. ( March 2026 ) The closure of Stacks will be a sad loss to the local community. Stacks really was a local institution. It was a popular meeting place. It was the pub with no beer. It was a place where you could buy that much sought after book, CD, or LP record for a knock down price. Or it was simply a wee 'hidyhole', to get out of the rain, or to have a laugh or escape the wife for an hour or so. If Sparky hadn't got the long lost book you wanted he would watch out for it coming in and he would get in touch! He had an encyclopedic knowledge and memory. He always had a wee fun twinkle in his eye. What a guy! There are very few old timers like Sparky left. I wish him well in his well deserved retirement.
