eica D Lux 8 Print Test – Can a 17MP Micro Four Thirds Camera Handle Large Prints? In this video, I dive deep into the real world printing capabilities of the Leica D Lux 8 by showcasing a full size print made from a photo captured using the 17 megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor in the Leica D Lux 6. Printed on a large 22 by 17 inch sheet using the Epson SureColor P900 printer, the results are nothing short of impressive. Photographers often obsess over megapixels, full frame sensors, and dynamic range on spec sheets, but few actually take their work into the real world and print it. That’s where things get interesting. When you print a photo, the conversation changes. You begin to see texture, depth, and tonal separation that often go unnoticed on your monitor or the back of your camera. In this test, the detail revealed in the print shocked me. I discovered things I hadn’t seen even after editing the file in Lightroom. This is where the Leica D Lux 8 truly shines. It might be compact, but don’t let the size fool you. This camera packs more than enough power to produce gallery worthy prints when paired with good technique and smart post processing. Whether you’re a street photographer, a travel shooter, or someone who just loves documenting life, this little camera delivers when it matters: on paper. In this video, I also explain why I try to print one or two photos from every photography session or trip. Printing your work is not just about seeing it larger, it’s about discovering how it feels. It turns photography from a digital habit into a physical, emotional experience. You’ll find that what looks great on screen might not hold up in print, and vice versa. Printing helps refine your eye, your edits, and your overall creative process. The printer used here is the Epson P900, one of the best photo printers available for photographers. It supports a wide range of paper types, including fine art matte and glossy, and produces true to life color and deep blacks. It’s perfect for photographers looking to make large, archival quality prints at home or in a studio. I’ll be releasing a dedicated video soon walking through my full printing workflow. From file preparation in Adobe Lightroom Classic, to ICC profiles, sharpening techniques, export settings, and choosing the right paper for your photo, I’ll share everything that helps me go from digital file to print that I can be proud to frame. If you’re serious about photography, no matter what camera brand you use, you owe it to yourself to print your work.
