A video showing Caledonian MacBrayne's MV Lord of the Isles, or LOTI as she is known to enthusiasts, covering for her fleetmate, MV Caledonian Isles on the Ardrossan-Brodick service in January 2012. LOTI had never served on this route before as it was usually the MV Clansman that would cover, her introduction to this sailing means she is the only vessel to have sailed on all major Calmac services, the only other vessel coming close being the 1974 built MV Pioneer, which served on all but Ullapool-Stornoway. LOTI was built in Port Glasgow in 1989 and entered service on the Oban-Coll-Tiree/Barra/S. Uist service. Her design is a cross between the 1988 built MV Isle of Mull and the 1986 built MV Hebridean Isles. Following being replaced on the Outer Isles service by the MV Clansman in 1998 she found herself on the quieter Mallaig-Armadale crossing, but was replaced in 2003 and once again found herself back at Oban, operating extra Outer Isles sailings and has done that ever since, except when relieving for other members of the fleet.
