Victor to Canon City on Phantom Canyon Road - Scenic Dirt Road Drive in 4K from TakeMyTrip

This drive takes you the short way - but not necessarily the easy way - from Victor, Colorado to Canon City, via Phantom Canyon Road. The former railroad route's name is inspired by ghost stories that still give the canyon a foreboding feel. And maybe it also helped that I was driving it just a short while before sunset, when shadows were already cast across parts of the dirt road. You don't need a 4-wheel-drive vehicle to drive this route -- it's well-maintained, although there were some icy patches when I drove it in mid-November, and I'd guess that in a few more weeks it would be closed by snow. Phantom Canyon Road begins in the almost-ghost town of Victor, and runs south on county road 86 and 67. County Route 123 then connects us to US Highway 50 for the final portion of the drive into Canon City, Colorado. I made this trip in November 2022.
