A question that hasn't stop coming my way is "why did the flaps fail" well I think I may have solved it. Before I was allowed to recover the aircraft the FAA wanted to inspect it. A representative from Textron (Cessna) was with him and they left that day scratching their heads with no real answers. Quiet frankly Don and I didn't know either, until we disconnected the control rod for the flap. It became very apparent at that point we had a problem. If you own a C150 have you ever disconnected that rod to see how freely your flaps travel. Although not part of a annual inspection it maybe worth your time to have a look see. If not ask Mr Gryder if he wants to go for a ride in the corn. Oh and I recommend getting insurance, yes I know it's expensive but it will be worth it in the end.
