“Heaven and Nature Swing” (the complete album) features vocalist and trumpeter Phil Driscoll along with Ralph Carmichael’s Orchestra. Phil was a great admirer of Ralph’s creative and “swinging” arrangements. So, in 1993, not long after touring with Ralph on the Young Messiah circuit, Phil asked Ralph to create a Christmas album with him. It was titled “Heaven and Nature Swing” (could there be a more appropriate title?) that was released by Word Records. Recorded in Southern California and Nashville, Ralph’s charts brought both his big band sound plus strings to the arrangements. Phil is heard singing as well as playing his trumpet on the tunes: “Joy to the World,” “Winter Wonderland,” “Over in Bethlehem” (written by Ralph), “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “Silent Night,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” “White Christmas,” “Greatest Love Story” (written by Phil), “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “Spirit of Christmas” (written by Phil with Lari Goss).
