Interview with Safron Rossi @archetypaleye (  / archetypaleye  ) author of The Kore Goddess: A Mythology and Psychology Dr. Rossi and I discuss the significance of the Kore in mythology and archetypal psychology. Rossi's work focuses on this archetype in today's world and what it means for women and men as we individuate. We discuss Jung's perspective of the Kore/Self and why he considered the Kore goddesses as archetypal images of the self or rather to be unto oneself. We further discuss what this means for clients in depth work and how coming to know the Kore archetype calls up inner integrity, agency, containment, and sovereignty. This is a psychological process that is brings us closer to our true self in the analytical sense. The Kore is the archetype of individuation and when integrated is the precursor to a life that is lived. As an archetypal image the Kore represent the passages of suffering toward wholeness that the individuation process feels like and when integrated constellates a new organization of the psychology of the individual, or rather one that has been freed from the constructs and cognitive conditioning that encrust our archetypal relating.
