According to the TOC of the 1972 issue, the first chapter of the Heiwa series is the ‘The Death of Ryokichi Aogishi’ story that was published in English in Slum Wolf. But even then, there have been previous stories from Tadao featuring Ryokichi like ‘The Flight of Ryokichi Aogishi’, so I’m not too sure what the reasoning behind making the 1972 story the first chapter was when there have been previous stories following the same character. The story follows the life of Ryu, who is sometimes depicted with the imagery of a dog, growing up and becoming infamous for his fighting. People talk about him at a bar, similar to the way the Sabu story was set up. He had fought a fight for 3 days against this gang and disappeared after. Story isn't in Sabu the Bruiser 2. Thank you to Jet for identifying the demon in Kusonoki Shouhei's chapter as Raijin! It's a thunder god (雷神) from Japanese mythology. Parents tell children to cover their belly buttons during a thunderstorm so that Raijin doesn't come and take them away to eat. Relating it back to the story, the Raijin did say a line of dialogue that it ate something. The person in the story was asleep that time, and it cuts to the god leaving, so did the Raijin leave her alone out of love? Or did it end up eating her like the folk tales dictate? 3. The Abe story shows "the bloody purge of the Shinsengumi, which culminates with the murder of Serizawa Kamo and his mistress" - https://yoo-gto.com/2021/12/18/%E5%A4...
