Our trip to the north of central Europe onboard P&O Iona from February 2025. This was our second time on a European cruise on Iona, so we had a few favourite spots to revist, as well as some new places to explore! During our trip, we first docked in Rotterdam, allowing us to visit the fantastic city for 2 days, allowing us to experience Rotterdam's Zoo, as well as re-visit Markthal. We next set sail for Hamburg, Germany. Unfortunately, upon arrival we were notified that there were country-wide travel strikes, affecting our departure due to the need for a pilot to safely leave Hamburg. This cut our visit almost 12 hours short, so we decided to have instead have a short explore around the city. Due to the earlier departure time, we witnessed a beautiful sail-away from the city during the sunset. During the departure, we also were lucky enough to see a landing and takeoff from a Beluga XL, one of only six of it's kind world-wide. After a day at sea, we arrived at Zeebrugge where we planned to take a trip into Bruges, but unfortunately, there were also travel strikes in effect in Belgium at the time of our visit. We instead visited the seaside city of Blankeberge.
