Tendering Operations about a mile off the coast of Kailua - Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii, July, 2023. Passengers were transported to shore for excursions or other activities at this port. The port itself is too small to accommodate the ship, Norwegian Cruise Line's Pride of America. These small boats are lowered over the side of the ship, to the water, where passengers can be transferred to and from them via ramps on a lower deck. The boats then ferry passengers to and from the shore. These boats serve a dual purpose. They are also used as lifeboats in an emergency. In this video, passengers are seen returning to the ship at the end of the day. The boats are then being raised, stowed into their positions above the promenade deck, and secured for the ship's soon departure for the next port of call. These boats are stowed above this deck, like the one being hoisted here and are found on both sides of the ship.
