Robert Kiyosaki concludes that what makes the rich richer and the poor poorer is that the rich spend their money on assets, while the poor waste their money on liabilities, which they think of as assets. I share an exercise I've used, when I found myself to be wasting most of my money on liabilities. 1) Take little piece of paper 2) Write down "asset or liability ?" 3) Put it in your wallet, wrap it around your bills. 4) Next time you grab that wallet before making an impulsive buying decision, simply ask yourself "Is this product or service, I want to spend on, an asset, meaning it will help me make more money, thus it is a mid- or long-term investment or is it a liability and I will only lose money?" That little paper will serve you as a constant reminder that you are not careless with your money. You take care of your personal finances.
