Making The MOTHER OF ALL CUTTERS 💪 Part 1 | Shop Made Tools

We’re diving into the build of what we’re calling the Mother of All Cutters—a custom, heavy-duty tool that's going to take some serious machining! In this first part, we start with a round plate half a metre wide and take it through the initial machining process. First, we set it up in the lathe to face both sides and clean up the surface before drilling and boring the center hole to fit our MT5 arbour spigot. Then, we move to the milling machine to drill and counter-sink four bolt holes, ensuring the cutter will sit flush when mounted. Next, we prep the plate for mounting on the rotary table, drilling six accurately spaced holes using the PCD bolt hole function on the Digital Read Out. But before we can move forward, we need to set up the rotary table—and Kurtis shares a quick and easy trick to get the plate centered using an arbor and a custom-machined sleeve. We’re loving how this monster cutter is being transformed but this is just the beginning—Part 2 is where things get really interesting! Don’t miss it.
