Enjoy the walk Avenue Louise (Dutch: Louizalaan) is a Brussels avenue stretching from Place Louise to Bois de la Cambre. It is one of the most expensive and famous avenues in the capital. This avenue was born in 1847, when the idea arose of connecting the city center to the Bois de la Cambre and the Forêt de Soignes by a straight, monumental-looking road, planted with chestnut trees. It is named in honor of Princess Louise, eldest daughter of King of the Belgians Leopold II, just as Place Stéphanie is named in honor of her sister Stéphanie.
