Thomas ''Fats'' Waller, painist, organist, composer, singer, disciple of James P. Johnson (father of Stride piano style) much recorded and his first piano solo recorded is a tune (''Muscle Shoals Blues'') written by the Jazz and Blues pianist and composer George W. Thomas. In this video one can listen to the Mx. 70948-D of this tune, which was recorded, according to Brian Rust together with the Mx. 70949-D of ''Birmingham Blues'', in New York, c. October 21, 1922 on original and rare Okeh 4757-A, downloaded by me from: https://web.archive.org/web/20190421065659... on the ''WayBackMachine'' (https://web.archive.org/web/20180730114610... and clic ''Musicians''), converting file RA to mp3 and turning the volume down a little in the video. Regarding the above recording date ( c. October 21), Rust specifies that ''As both the above are somewhat high takes, it is possible they were recorded at a remake session about December, 1922 (see Sara Martin, c. December 1 and 14)''.
