But Esther goes beyond pop culture consumption to profound truth and contemporary application. ~ The Epstein saga is a national disgrace and survives because of fear—Epstein's first arrest was March 2005—26 years ago. And there is someone somewhere navigating this fear today—aware of what can be revealed—resulting in arrest and conviction of child groomers and predators. But knowing their revelation will come with a high cost. And I hope this dear soul, through no fault of their own, stumbling into this sewer, will read the Book of Esther. Mordecai receives response from Esther, I cannot go to the King and plead for my people I will pay with my life, I am not allowed to approach unless called on. Mordecai's response to Esther is applied to Epstein story: Esther, you may pay a price, but your status cannot insulate you from evil. Esther, consequences of evil will visit you and your family, a price is already paid by silence. Esther, I know you are placed in a hard position, through no fault of your own, you did not cause this horror, but I want you to think about this: Maybe, just maybe, you were placed in a Royal Position, for such a time as this...? The sermon today is applied to your personal story; however, an application to this national stain and embarrassment to our country may move someone to exercise profound courage.
