Hello Miniwargaming fans, and welcome to my painting tutorial video: How to paint Dark Eldar. For my colour sceme, I chose the following paints: Chaos black Skull white Red gore Blood red Boltgun metal Chainmail Shining gold Burnished gold Ultramarines blue Badab black ink/wash Techniques used: Drybrushing: A technique where most of the paint is removed from the brush by rubbing it against a paper towel. The result is that the model's ridges and raised points collect the majority of the paint, creating layers of colour. GST: Stands for gradual shading technique. If bright red (for example) is my destination, I would start with red gore, drybrush a layer of a mix of red gore and blood red, drybrush blood red, and then drybrush blood red with a touch of white to highlight. Ink: Ink is a very thin, watery paint. Ink will receed into the crevaces of the model, adding shading and detail. Step 1: Assemble your model(s). Step 2: Prime using black spray paint. Allow to dry. Apply a thin coat of chaos black. Step 3: Apply a layer of red gore to the uniform using a heavy drybrush. Step 4: Drybrush a layer (50/50 mix) of red gore and blood red. Step 5: Drybrush a layer of blood red. Step 6: Light drybrush/highlight with lightend blood red. Step 7: Drybrush the weapons, gloves, gauntlets, and boots boltgun metal. Step 8: Light drybrush/highlight the weapons with chainmail. Step 9: Drybrush the armor shining gold. Step 10: Drybrush a layer (50/50 mix) of shining gold and burnished gold. Step 11: Drybrush a layer of burnished gold. Step 12: Light drybrush/highlight with lightend burnished gold. Step 13: Carefully paint the eyes red gore. Step 14: Carefully drybrush the eyes blood red. Step 15: Drybrush the hair (50/50 mix) of choas black and skull white Step 16: Drybrush the hair skull white. Step 17: Apply detail: Paint the powercells, paint skulls on weapons, paint blood detail. Step 18: Perform touch ups. Step 19: Ink. Step 20: Gloss. You are done painting your model(s). Fantastic! Your result should be a well detailed model with realistic layers of colour. All that's left is the base, which I will be covering in my next video tutorial.
