The Dreamachine Simulator recreates the experience without purchasing an expensive original or reproduction. It’s a simple 10fps slideshow using Brion Gysin's original die-cut designs. Instructions: (0) The Dreamachine used 1600 lumen lightbulb. Use a normal data projector of 2000+ lumens. Portable LED/phone projectors, or LCD screens are probably too low. (1) Dim the room, prepare this video in full-screen mode, connect to projector. (2) Position your eyes directly in the beam of the projector, 30cm (12") from the lens. KEEP YOUR EYES CLOSED. The effect works through the eyelids - the Dreamachine is "the art designed to be viewed with the eyes closed". (3) Press play, watch through closed eyes for the full 10min. (4) (Optional) Gysin suggested listening to the Master Musicians of Jajouka or Throbbing Gristle's Heathen Earth as a setting.
