This interview is everything we taped. Enjoy! See the shorter, edited version here on my channel, too! +++ Chances are you can still sing the lyrics of Paul Young's biggest worldwide hit, "Every Time You Go Away," from the summer of 1985. I can, because at the radio station where I worked, the song was in what's called "heavy rotation" for months. Now that he's rocking the houses on the Retro Futura 80's concert tour, audiences still stand and sing along as the handsome blue-eyed British vocalist winds his way through his other best-known songs. He joins headliner Howard Jones, Katrina (from Katrina and the Waves), The English Beat, Men Without Hats, Modern English and on some dates, Bow Wow Wow's Annabella on this tour down musical memory lane. Paul, who's 61, also charted high in the United States and United Kingdom with "Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home)," "Come Back and Stay," "I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down," "Oh Girl" and "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted," among other tunes. Forging his musical turf in hometown England, he initially played in bands including Kat Kool & the Kool Kats, Streetband and The Q-Tips before becoming a certified solo heartthrob. Which brings us to one of his latest, long-lasting musical endeavors: In 1992, "Los Pacaminos got together in London in November 1992, as an antidote to the bleak English winter," says the seven-piece Tex-Mex band's website. The group was just a fun idea, but has evolved into something much more serious, in all good ways. "The band empathizes with Ry Cooder, Flaco Jimenez, The Texas Tornados and Los Lobos. Mix that together with blues, rock 'n roll and a hint of South American music and you have Los Pacaminos." Check out their tour schedule, too, and read more details about Paul's exciting life in his official biography on his website. Maybe you didn't know he's an excellent cook, as demonstrated on the U.K. versions of TV shows "Celebrity Masterchef" and "Hell's Kitchen." Now, in this exclusive video, Paul talks about the current tours of '80s and Tex Mex, his family, his teen idol days, how he takes care of himself on stage and off, and about—drum roll, please—NEW MUSIC. Looks like some previously unreleased tracks will be heading our way soon. Enjoy this candid conversation with Paul, and don't forget to get to a Retro Futura tour stop near you. You never know what may happen. This dedicated family man told the Mirror that during some performances, certain items of female clothing land on the stage in front of him. "I still get the occasional bra or pants lobbed at me, which I put in my back pocket, but I think they’re thrown just as a joke now."
