The DTA Foundation provides grants and scholarships to help advance access to oral healthcare, especially for the most underserved in our communities. Hear about the impact of our work through our recent grant and scholarship winners, Apple Tree Dental (grantee) and Jeremie Oliver Piña (dental scholarship winner). Apple Tree Dental is a Minnesota-based dental provider with more than 40 years of experience delivering high-quality, compassionate care, especially for patients with disabilities and those in underserved communities. In 2024 alone, Apple Tree Dental served 38,937 patients across 10 Centers for Dental Health, helping reduce barriers to oral healthcare access. Apple Tree Dental has received multiple DTA Foundation grants over the years, most recently winning a $25k grant in 2025 for their pilot project titled: "Integrating oral health services into a whole-person, patient-centered accountable care organization serving people with disabilities." Jeremie Oliver Piña is a 4th-year dental student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, School of Dentistry. In 2024, he won a $5k scholarship from the DTA Foundation, funded by a donation from the Shils Fund. He will be graduating in Spring 2026, then attending a 6-year residency program, where he will also earn his medical degree during this time.
