Char Bangla Temples, Azimgunj, Murshidabad. Out of 108 temples, 107 temples constructed by Rani Bhavani. The Bhavaniswar Mandir at Baranagar was built in 1755 by Tarasundari, daughter of Rani Bhabani. It is the tallest lime and mortar temple at Baranagar. Human figures on the outer facade are average. The floral motifs on the outer wall of inner sanctum are excellent.” Rani Bhabani (1716-1795) was wife of Raja Ramakanta, Zamindar of Natore, in Rajshahi district, now in Bangladesh. After she became a widow at the age of 32, she ran her Zamindari smoothly and earned fame for her philanthropic activities.
