Only by meeting this prerogative can you ensure that the circuit breaker will trip before the cable is damaged. In short, it is very important that the circuit breaker is dimensioned in such a way that it is coordinated with the dimensioning of the conductor, and the standard makes this very clear as mentioned above. When sizing the circuit breaker, we must be careful not to confuse “corrected current” with the design current. They are completely different from each other: Design current – ​​This is the current that will flow through the cable to supply the load. This current is found by knowing the electrical characteristics of the load (power, voltage, etc.). Corrected current – ​​This is the current that serves as a parameter to facilitate the location of the correct cable in the standard table after all the correction factors have been applied. Once the cable has been located, its table current must again be corrected to the maximum conduction current, considering the correction factors used. It is through this corrected current that we will be able to find the appropriate value for the circuit breaker that will protect the cable.
