THE ROADTRIP ARCHIVE – 149 March 5th, 2020 Yamatocho Kurisu, Gujo to Kijimadaira, Nagano - Japan Waking up to new snow in Yamatocho Kurisu and taking Route 318 northeast over the hills and following the Shouzu & Yoshida Rivers on Routes 82 & 472, then taking Routes 257 & 73 to Takayama, followed by Routes 89, 158, E67 & 158 again, stopping at Maekawadoo Bridge on Azusa Lake before continuing to Matsumoto and visiting Matsumoto Castle, then following the Sai River north on National Route 19 until reaching the confluence with the Chikuma River in Nagano, then following the Chikuma River north on Routes 368, 18 & 117 until turning east onto Route 38 and then Route 403 along the Taru River, arriving in Kijimadaira and staying overnight at Miyukino-Mori JAPAN, 2020: Four weeks on the road in Japan, just before the pandemic struck in March 2020. Driving a little Nissan March (Micra) and staying in ryokans and Airbnbs. Circling Japan, this 8,000km roadtrip starts in Tokyo and travels across Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu to the far southern island of Yakushima, then all the way north to Aomori, seeing Hokkaido across the sea, and back down to Tokyo. 4K Hyperlapse / Timelapse GoPro Hero 4, unedited, no sound THE ROAD IS THE GOAL :-)
